The last of the leaves are falling all over the 10-acre wood these days. The trees are nearly barren. I can see all four borders of our property now, and the spaciousness helps me breathe deeply.
I wonder, as the sleep of winter approaches, does dying help us see beyond what’s right in front of us?
Does it give us a wider, longer view of existence, of our lives, of all that God is doing?

I just reread this post and I had to think of your grandma Kuhns. I was staying with her one evening in the hospital as she was dying and she talked about seeing Jesus and he holding out his hands to her – she also could hear the angels. Another conversation while she was in the hospital was seeing David. That would have been the first born who died a couple of days after birth.

I do believe the closer we come to heaven the veil between heaven and earth thins out.
